I am waiting for the sun
Short film and series of engraved mirrors, exhibited across St Helens libraries.
Hosted by Bidston Observatory's Heritage Education Centre Space (HECS) and St Helens Borough of Culture.
'I am waiting for the sun' is a short film made during Gee Collins's residency at Bidston Observatory's Heritage Education Centre Space (HECS) responding to the Sunshine Recorder* housed within the HECS archive. The film uses footage filmed while the Sunshine Recorder could not be used (due to the specific weather conditions needed), expressing themes of failure and longing. 'I am waiting for the sun' is funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of 'Creative Underground', a two-year heritage project coordinated by St Helens Libraries & Archive Service.
*A sunshine recorder is a device that records the amount of sunshine at a given location or region at any time. The results provide information about the weather and climate as well as the temperature of a geographical area.
